What is Invisalign?
Invisalign is an orthodontic system that uses clear aligner trays to gradually move your teeth into their proper alignment. The trays, which are made of clear BPA-free plastic, fit over your teeth and apply gentle pressure. As you progress through treatment—advancing from one set of trays to the next—your see you smile begin to straighten.
What is Acceledent?
With any orthodontic treatment system, the bone that supports your teeth must undergo remodeling in order for you teeth to remain firmly set in their new positions. Normally, this bone remodeling takes time. Propel reduces the time necessary for this important step in wearing braces.
By using Acceledent, treatment times have been cut by at least half for a number of case types including spacing, crowding, open bite, cross bite and more. Invisalign patients in particular are able to change out their aligner trays every 10 days rather than the standard 14 days. In addition, using Acceledent not only allows for faster treatment but more predictable outcomes, as well.
The Advantages of Invisalign
Traditional braces with metal brackets and wires work well—that has been proven for decades. However, there is no getting around the metal mouth appearance. Invisalign, on the other hand, offers the same terrific results but in a much more discrete way.
In addition to this clear advantage, Invisalign also has the advantage of being removable. At mealtime, you’ll be able to eat your normal diet because your braces won’t be in your mouth restricting your choice of foods. Patients wearing metal brackets and wires must be careful about they eat in order to avoid breaking or dislodging their braces.
Similarly, you’ll be able to continue your regular at-home oral hygiene routine with Invisalign. Brushing and flossing well around metal braces can be a challenge. With Invisalign, just remove your aligners and clean your teeth and gums as usual.
